Rainy‑Day Roof Inspection in Hermann, MO: Spotting Wind Damage, Zippering & Leaks

A rainy afternoon didn’t stop Ridgeline Roofing & Solar from delivering answers for a residential‑care facility in Hermann, Missouri. Armed with an umbrella and a trash bag, our roofing contractors near me performed a detailed roof inspection to uncover the hidden culprits behind persistent leaks.

What did we find?

  • Wind‑damaged and missing shingles creating pathways for water intrusion.
  • Zippering shingles—a tell‑tale sign of minor wind damage that weakens the entire system.
  • Split and inverted pipe flashings, unsealed face nails, and loose step flashing—all common triggers for emergency roof repair near me.
  • A low‑slope (1.5/12) section that should never have been shingled in the first place, now demanding flat roof repair near me.
  • Ridge vents clogged at the intake, trapping heat, warping decking, and raising future roof replacement cost.

Ignoring these issues can lead to soaked insulation, mold growth, and structural rot. That’s why our team documents every defect and provides clear options—from quick roof leak repair to full replacement with energy‑efficient roofing materials.

Hear Tim’s Thoughts

Video Transcript: "Hey. It's Tim Yates with Ridgeline Roofing and Solar. I'm in Herman, Missouri right now. It's raining. I'm on a residential care facility taking a look at some areas where the shingles are coming off the roof.

See there? There's quite a few areas like that. It's got a flat roof here that's got a leak. It's about a one and a half 12. It really shouldn't have shingles on it anyway, but it's lasted this long, so I guess that's pretty good.

There's a lot of zippering on this roof. You can see the zippering right here, how the shingles are kinda look like a zipper. And what that is is minor wind damage, and it's really, really strong throughout this roof. There's a whole lot of it. So, this roof also has ridge vent.

I see the ridge vents atop all the ridges, and, it's not functioning really well. I'm not sure if they have something that's clogging the intake, but it's definitely the heat's collecting towards the top of the roof and causing this roof to condensate and, warp the decking. So I'm gonna get off this thing and, turn in my report. I hope everyone has a good day. Thanks."
