Why Roof Core Sampling Matters: A Behind‑the‑Scenes Look at Cardinal Scale in Webb City, MO

When you’re searching for roofing contractors near me who deliver honest answers and lasting work, it starts with knowing exactly what’s hiding beneath the surface. That’s why Ridgeline Roofing & Solar performed a roof core sample at Cardinal Scale in Webb City, Missouri.

A core sample removes a small cylinder of material—from the silicone coating and membrane down through layers of ISO insulation—to reveal the true makeup of the roof. With that data in hand, our commercial roofing contractors near me can:

  • Pinpoint hidden leaks. Water can travel between layers, leading to rusted steel decking. A core sample shows the damage before it spreads.
  • Create accurate estimates. By measuring insulation thickness and R‑value, we provide precise roof replacement cost projections—no surprises.
  • Choose the right solution. Whether it’s silicone roof coating, flat roof repair near me, or a full replacement, knowing the roof’s anatomy guides the plan.

For Cardinal Scale—an industry leader that ships products worldwide—downtime is costly. Our team identified rusted B‑deck sections, replaced them, and installed a 30‑year sealant so production never missed a beat.

If you need a roof inspection for your commercial facility or a roof leak repair on your home, call the experts trusted across Webb City, Joplin, and the Four‑State Area. We’ll diagnose the problem, explain every option, and back our work with Ridgeline’s 25‑Year Workmanship Warranty.

Video Transcript: "Tim Yates with Ridgeline Roofing and Solar. We're here at Cardinal Scale today in Webb City, Missouri. If you're not familiar with Cardinal Scale, they supply scales, pretty much all over the world for anything from medical to truck skills. And, what a great company, family owned, known for a while. And, we came over here to do a pour sample in this roof.

Now this roof is composed of a couple of layers of ISO, which is insulation, and the thickness gives this roof an r value of about 24. And then it's got a, membrane, and then it's got a cap sheet on top of it. So what's going on is over time, it's it's had some leaks, and it's it's, the water's penetrating the roof system, and it's getting on the b deck and causing it to rust out. So we're gonna have to cut out some areas and replace the b deck, and then we'll go back with the roofing. But this is how we do a core sample.

This is a pouring tool. Basically, cut into the roof with it, pull it out, push it the plunger, and it gives you your roof specs right there. And then when you're done, seal it up. I would do a more permanent patch on this if it was gonna be a couple of years or whatever, but, we filled the hole, put everything back, and, used a thirty year ceiling on it. So good to go there.

So, if you have any questions about your residential or commercial roof, please give us a call. Thank you."
