Three-Tab Roof Installation in Little Rock, AR: Oxford Gray Shingles with a Professional Touch

In Little Rock, Arkansas, the Ridgeline Roofing & Solar team recently completed a new construction roofing project at Joseph T. Robinson, featuring Oxford Gray three-tab shingles. While three-tab shingles are becoming less common in favor of architectural styles, they still offer great value when installed correctly—and this project is proof of that.

Why Three-Tab Shingles Still Have a Place:

Cost-Effective – With updated 25-year warranties, three-tabs now offer more durability for nearly the same price as architectural shingles.

Clean, Classic Look – The Oxford Gray shade provides a sleek, neutral appearance. While it resembles “Thunderstorm Gray” from the architectural line, it brings its own sharp contrast and charm to a roofline.

Installation Matters – We laid this roof using a 5-inch stagger pattern, which is designed to optimize water runoff and increase shingle life. Though some prefer the 6-inch method for a brick-style layout, the 5-inch stagger helps distribute water flow more evenly across the shingle face.

Attention to Detail – Upon arrival, we discovered an overcut ridge vent, a potential weak point if left untreated. Our crew immediately addressed it to ensure proper ventilation and waterproofing.

At Ridgeline, we don’t just install roofing—we make sure every detail meets or exceeds manufacturer and performance standards. Whether it’s architectural, metal, silicone, or three-tab, we bring the same level of craftsmanship to every roof.

Hear Tim’s Thoughts

Video Transcript: "Hey. It's Tim Yates, Ridgeline Roofing and Solar. We are at Joseph t Robinson in Little Rock, Arkansas today, and we are, roofing a new construction build. It's a three tab, this one is, it looks like thunderstorm gray, it's actually oxford gray. So oxford gray in a three tab looks like thunderstorm gray in our architectural.

It's not a bad looking shingle, you don't see a lot of three tabs anymore. They're, they raised the price point when they took them from twenty to twenty five year warranty shingles and they're really close to the same price as Architectural. We ring these on fives. A lot of people run them on sixes. When you run them on sixes, your your teardrop will actually meet in the middle of the shingle.

So and then it gives it a a brick pattern look. But, supposedly, if you run them on fives, the water travels, a different pattern when it rains and elongates the life of a shingle. Whether you believe that or not, I don't know. We had some problem trouble with this. When we got here or when I got here, I noticed the ridge vent was overcut, and, so we are doing some stuff to correct that at this point.

Anyway, it's a beautiful day to be on the roof. Hope everyone's doing well. Thank you."
